Our story
Built by a rancher, for ranchers.
RanchTracker didn't come from a Silicon Valley incubator. It came from a Central Valley cattle operation and a spreadsheet that was held together with prayers.
Our Story
RanchTracker was born out of frustration. As a third-generation cattle rancher in California's Central Valley, I struggled with outdated software that was either too complex for small operations or too simple for serious ranch management.
After years of cobbling together spreadsheets, notebooks, and generic farm apps, I decided to build the solution I wished existed. RanchTracker is designed by someone who checks cattle at dawn, understands the challenges of rural internet, and knows that every head counts.
Today, hundreds of small commercial operations across California and beyond use RanchTracker to manage their cattle, track their finances, and improve their profitability. Tame the chaos, ranch ahead of the rest — that's our promise to every rancher who trusts us with their operation.

How we got here
The spreadsheet problem
Third-generation rancher Brooke Helsel is managing 180 head of Angus with a patchwork of Excel files, paper notebooks, and two different apps that don't talk to each other. Tax season is a nightmare.
Building the fix
After trying every ranch management tool on the market — and finding them either too complex, too expensive, or clearly built for row crops — Brooke starts building something from scratch.
First ranchers onboard
RanchTracker launches in beta with a handful of operations in California's Central Valley. The feedback is immediate: simpler, faster, and finally built for cattle people.
Growing the herd
Hundreds of small commercial operations across the western US are now running on RanchTracker. The mobile app launches — offline-first, because that's how ranches actually work.
Still ranching, still building
RanchTracker continues to be run by the same family that started it. Every feature request comes from real operations, real problems, and real cattle.

Real ranch, real solutions
We understand cattle operations because we live them.
From early morning checks to late evening feeds — every feature is built around how ranches actually work.
What we believe
Built from experience
We've pulled calves at 2 AM and tagged ears in the rain. Every design decision is filtered through the question: 'Would this work in the field?'
Simple over clever
Ranch software should feel like a good tool, not a computer course. We remove complexity relentlessly — if it doesn't help you manage cattle, it doesn't belong.
Your data, protected
Your records are your livelihood. We back up everything automatically, keep your data private, and never sell it. You own what you put in.
Sized right
The big platforms are built for 10,000-head feedlots. We're built for 25–500 head commercial operations — the segment that everyone else ignores.
